Pasture Reclamation in Lake Saint Louis, MO

Giving your grass a real chance to come back.

Morris Land Clearing works with farmers and ranchers across Eastern Missouri in the clearing phase of pasture reclamation. We remove invasive brush, cedars, saplings, and overgrowth to bring pasture ground back to a workable state.

"Seeding, soil amendments, and fertility management are separate trades we can refer out."

What's Taking Over Eastern Missouri Pastures

    Eastern Red Cedar

The biggest problem in this region. It spreads by seed, birds scatter it across pastures, and once it gets established it crowds out grass, sucks up water, and kills forage.

    Bush Honeysuckle

Leafs out earlier than native plants in spring and holds its leaves later in fall, which means it's shading out competition almost year-round, and is Incredibly difficult to manage.

    Autumn Olive

Spreads aggressively and out-competes native plants. Tough to eradicate without the right equipment.

    Multiflora Rose

A thorny shrub that colonizes fence lines and spreads into open ground. Dense enough to stop cattle from moving through.

They're eating your productive acreage, and they don't slow down on their own.

Why Forestry Mulching Works for Pasture

The Caterpillar 275 XE grinds invasives and encroaching brush on-site. Root structures are severed at or below ground level on most species. The mulched material stays on the ground, breaks down, and puts organic matter back into the soil, so you're not fighting erosion after the job.

Grass that's been suppressed by shade and competition has a real chance to recover once the pressure is removed. A lot of pasture that looks like it's been lost responds well once the overstory is gone.

    When To Do It

Fall and winter are the preferred windows in Missouri. Visibility is better with the leaves down, ground conditions are typically firmer, and you're cleared out before the spring growing season. We work year-round though — call and we'll schedule around what makes sense for your operation.
